Will ball screw assembly affect accuracy?

2026-04-20

The ball screw is a fine mechanical transmission component, and there are some requirements for accuracy, and there are many reasons for absolute accuracy. So will the operation during assembly affect the ball screw? The answer is yes. In the transformation of the vertical numerical control lathe, the ball screw vibrates in the direction when it is used, and the repeated positioning accuracy is not enough. The screw can be disassembled to check whether the two ends of the nut raceway are worn, grooves, peeling, etc. In addition to the manufacturing quality and smooth protection elements, the reason for this situation is also important to the assembly accuracy.

If the axis line of the bearing housing holes at both ends of the supporting screw is not parallel to the guide rail surface, the thread practice line of the screw is inclined relative to the guide rail after the screw assembly, and the nut is fixed on the tool holder. The tool holder moves in a straight line along the guide rail surface, and the nut will approach the ideal position during the movement, causing the screw to exhibit elastic bending deformation. The screw has an overturning moment on both ends of the nut.

The balls in the raceway do not adhere to the frame. When the balls are moved to the two ends of the nut, they are squeezed under the action of the overturning torque, which blocks the operation of the balls, leading to increased wear and tear. In severe cases, grooves appear, causing vibration and presenting the lead error of the screw. Therefore, when we use the ball screw to assemble the screw, we must pay great attention to the positional accuracy of the relevant parts. After the assembly procedure is completed, manually rotate the ball screw to make it rotate cumbersome and smooth.
